Simon Cowell has been negotiating with Fox for days about bringing his wildly popular UK show, The X Factor, to America beginning in 2011!

Simon Cowell has been negotiating with Fox for days about bringing his wildly popular UK show, The X Factor, to America beginning in 2011!
The announcement of the show is expected to arrive very soon — as soon as this week!
But this realistically means the end of American Idol with many people believing this will be Simon's final year on the program.
Fox President Peter Rice tried to change Cowell's mind about ditching Idol for X Factor, even flying to London to speak with him, but Simon has made up his mind.
However, executives still believe that Idol will be able to go on without Cowell, throwing out new judge Ellen DeGeneres as a possible draw for an audience:
"Simon Cowell is a spectacular talent. Having said that, 'American Idol' is much bigger than any one individual. Maybe Ellen is the next focal point."
Maybe, but we think Simon totally makes the show and will suffer once he takes off!
Simon is said to be more keen on The X Factor because he will be a judge AND produce whereas with Idol he isn't in control of the show in any respect except for the judging. He's poised to make a LOT more money with the X Factor as he will essentially be running the whole show.
Fox's tentative plan is to air The X Factor in Fall 2011 when Idol is on hiatus and go from there.
But we have a pretty strong feeling that American Idol can't survive The X Factor and the departure of it most notorious judge.
